Gabi Plattner has a background in Educational Science. She is managing director and head of the Tyrolean women's shelter for abused women and children ("Tiroler Frauenhaus für misshandelte Frauen und Kinder") and deputy chairwoman of the umbrella organisation Autonomous Austrian Women's shelters ("Verein Autonome Österreichische Frauenhäuser").
